Let it be known that New York is my happy place! There are many reasons why the Big Apple has a hold on my heart. From the city's art, fashion and architecture to its undying business spirit, inspiration is everywhere, and I feel incredibly grateful to call New York my home. Not a day goes by that I don't appreciate all that is at my fingertips. As an art student, I used to dream of traveling the world, soaking up a city's culture and history, and exploring the best museums. I still have to pinch myself when I realize amazing gems like the Metropolitan Museum of Art are just a short cab ride from my studio.

I try to remind myself to take advantage of these treasures whenever I can. For this week’s Ceci Bride, Ekaterina, and her San Francisco wedding, I spent a Sunday afternoon strolling through the grand halls of the Met. Since I’m an artist to the core, nothing is more moving than enjoying the works of Frida Kahlo, Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet, which I studied and admired from afar for so long. Trends will come and go, but the classics always endure and leave me in awe. When it came to her wedding invitations, Ekaterina's desire was to blend an ornate, baroque style with my modern sensibility. As baroque-era pieces were typically full of dynamic and irregular artwork, we combined that with the contemporary Ceci presentation of a gatefold invitation suite. The result was a designer’s dream, featuring artwork on every piece and a playground of printing that included letterpress, laser-cutting, foil stamping, and die-cutting – truly embodying opulent timelessness and telling a story through art.

Inspiration abounds, and the possibilities are endless! So if you have the opportunity, my advice is to seize each moment and shake up your routine a bit. Get out there and take it all in! Take a trip to the Met (I promise, it’ll be worth it!), visit your city’s museum or stop by a cool new gallery and open your eyes.

P.S. Special thanks to Ian Holmes for the ethereal muse photos.
