V148: Ceci Inspirations - Seaside Glamour

SEASIDE GLAMOUR

I never miss an opportunity to glam it up, even when it comes to relaxed affairs by the sea. So this week I'm here to show you how to take a beach vibe and kick it up a notch: Yes, you can include all those fun details, like seashells and starfish, but you shouldn't be afraid of a little extra sophistication and sparkle. In fact, I say embrace it!

A terrific example is this week's muse, Melissa and her husband, Michael, whose outdoor wedding in Nantucket prompted us to dream up a luxe invitation that was very much their own. The central invitation card featured splendid cursive while everywhere else we made sure to play up the celebrated location with nautical maps of Nantucket and other maritime details in stunning gold and turquoise.

This approach isn't just limited to invites – you can be just as elegantly creative with your by-the-beach wardrobe, meals and entertaining. To show you the way, I've asked our always-spot-on friends at Brooks Brothers to share four weekend looks that are both stylish and polished. I'm also super excited that Nantucket native and A-list caterer Peter Callahan is here this week with recipes for a refined seaside party menu (there's more where that came from in his bestselling cookbook Bite by Bite: 100 Stylish Little Plates You Can Make for Any Party).

Finally, for those of you still unsure of what to pack for your glam summer getaway, we've not only filled this issue with the usual fab mix of shoppable pieces in Get the Look, but we've asked product placement guru Jessica Cohen of LupRocks to reveal the latest must-haves, from fashion to gadgets. And if you're looking for the perfect summer gift for a friend with a little one, you won't want to miss the fun personalized towels from Dewey Designs – they're made specially for kids!

Head to the sea and go beach chic with me!
