CeciStyle Magazine v131: Fabulous Finds - This Week's Guest Editor: Ben Thibodeaux - Chef at Dickie Brennan's Tableau, New Orleans

  1. The King Cake Cocktail from Dickie Brennan’s Bourbon House This cocktail made at our sister restaurant, Bourbon House, is delicious and so festive with hints of cinnamon and spiced rum.

  2. French Onion Soup from Tableau I make this soup for breakfast after a late night out. For an extra kick I put a poached egg on top.

  3. King Cake from La Boulangerie I love the traditional French version of king cake which is made from layer after layer of puff pastry sheets with an almond paste center and an ultra-crisp outer shell.

  4. Watching the Mardi Gras krewes line up on Napoleon Avenue This is the place to check out what goes on behind the scenes before all the action starts.

  5. Popeyes Chicken Don’t be fooled by the fact that it’s fast food. No one does fried chicken better than Popeyes, and it’s everywhere during carnival season.

  6. Themed costumes My wife and I like to dress up on Mardi Gras day with friends as a group and pick a theme.

  7. Zing Zang Bloody Mary Mix Doctor it up with some lemon, celery, spicy green beans and a dash of Crystal hot sauce and you’re good to go. Oh, and don’t forget to add the vodka!

  8. Nola Brewing Co. Blonde Ale This is my favorite beer to drink around Mardi Gras time.

  9. Krewe of Muses To-Go Cups I use the plastic cups thrown at The Muses Parade as my to-go cups for the rest of the year. You can wash and reuse these until the next Mardi Gras.

  10. The St. Augustine High School Marching 100 A tradition since 1952, this high school marching band is astoundingly good. They bring incredible energy and precision to every parade they march in.
