Glamorous Halloween Makeup Tips by Eve Kleimenova
Look #1: Alice in Wonderland
This Alice in Wonderland-inspired look is very easy to incorporate into any Halloween costume for spooky-yet-luxurious party makeup. I started with Stream Cosmetics' airbrush makeup in M2. Around the eyes on top and bottom I used Nars' Multiple Stick for soft shimmering accents. Lightly blend the timeless look of Chanel's No. 93 Smoky Eyes palette with Chanel's Le Crayon Khol underneath. Starting at the lash line place pencil, smudge it and layer with shadows from the darkest color to the lightest. Take the darkest shadow out to the hairline for a softer, futuristic "cat eye." Simple and neutral lip colors are suggested - for this dramatic look, I use Honolulu Honey lipstick by Nars. The last touch is adding the fake "freckles." I use Elizabeth Arden's Smoky Eyes Powder Pencil in Espresso.
Look #2: Star Child
The second look is a futuristic star child - it's not too overwhelming for an upscale Halloween event whether you are in a classic black dress or something a bit more festive. Skin is airbrushed similarly to Look 1. Start with Motives' Eye Base over the entire eyelid, then use Nars' Grand Bleu cream eyeshadow and Trish McEvoy's glaze eye shadow in Gunmetal under the eye to create sheen. Apply Nars' Mediteranee eyeshadow and Trish McEvoy's glaze eye shadow in Gunmetal above the eye. Give a bit more definition with Chanel's Le Crayon Khol by lining the top and bottom of the eye.
Look #3: Sexy Vampire
For this sexy vampire look start with the eyes, since a lot of dark shadows are used and the blending may ruin the perfection of your airbrushed skin. Start with Elizabeth Arden's Eye Fix Primer, blending it all over the eyelid. Using Elizabeth Arden's black Smoky Eyes Powder Pencil create a "cat eye" and don't be afraid to be generous with it; use a brush to blend the pencil out for a softer smoky look. I prefer Trish McEvoy's #40 Laydown blending brush. Bobbi Brown's Cool Party Eye Palette is great to layer over the pencil. Finish up the eye with a few layers of Chanel's Inimitable black mascara and make sure you line the eye with a "French lining," which is done on the inner rim of the lash line on the top and the bottom for more definition. Make sure you clean up any imperfections under the eye! Now you can take care of the skin. Using Yves Saint Laurent's Touche Eclat, brighten up the skin under the eye area, chin, and forehead. Then airbrush your face, neck and decollete area with Stream Primer and a lighter color foundation. Define brows with Chanel's Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in # 30 Brun Naturel. For a sexier look use a lip color like Chanel's No. 09 Lover, or you can stay more neutral with Chanel's No. 05 Mademoiselle. To complete your sexy vampire look just put on a little black dress and vampire fangs!
Look #4: Avatar
Avatar-inspired, this look is extremely easy to create. Airbrush your entire face with Primer and follow with Matte foundation by Stream Cosmetics' airbrush system. Use Nars' South Pacific eye shadow to fill in and define the brow. Line eyes with Elizabeth Arden's Dual Perfection Brow Shaper & Eyeliner in Brunette. Finish the eyes with Lancome's Definicils black mascara. You can keep a neutral-colored lip, or even paint it blue depending on how adventurous you are.
Look #5: Bridesmaids
The inspiration for this look comes from the movie Bridesmaids. What a great way to finally have a use for those dresses you've held on to. Rally your best group of girlfriends to get dressed as bridesmaids for Halloween. The eye makeup is clean, classic and simple. For the eyes, use Elizabeth Arden's Color Intrigue Eyeshadow Quad in Neutral Cashmeres, Elizabeth Arden's Smoky Eyes Powder Pencil in Espresso and Chanel's Inimitable black mascara. After your skin is airbrushed, add Orgasm Blush by Nars. Finish with Chanel's No. 09 Lover lipstick.
Note: Airbrush makeup gives your skin a perfect "no makeup" look. It used to be used mostly for high definition TV, but these days airbrush machines are often used at home since they are extremely user-friendly.
